White Water River Rafting Adventure
Thursday, October 29, 2015Another adventure post!
Now, I will not be posting any budget here since this was a birthday treat. Our budget to this trip was just for each one’s transportation fair.
Who: 5 persons
What: Day Tour
Where: Magdalena, Laguna
When: October 25, 2015
How to get there?
From DLTB terminal (Buendia, Gil Puyat), ride a bus bound to Sta. Cruz Terminal. Travel time is around 2 hours and 30 minutes and the fair is Php140.00.
From Sta. Cruz Terminal, ride a jeepney that will drop you off to Magdalena Plaza. It’s a bit far, the jeepney fair is Php 17.00. From the plaza, one of the guides was told to pick us up. While waiting for one more friend, we decided to have something to eat since it’s about lunch time.
Briefing Proper
It was a few minute walk from the plaza to their main office. There, we settled and prepared for the day. We signed our waivers and waited for the others who will complete our group. (It was highly recommended to have a minimum group of 6 for this trip) Once everyone was in, we were briefed along with a video presentation of what we would be expecting. Here’s a short clip
Once the briefing was done, we got to choose and fit helmets and then rode a jeepney to the starting point. The jeepney already has the inflated raft and life vests in it. Photo ops before we go down the bridge. ^-^
Rafting Proper
Our guides went down first with the raft and then we followed them back down. We were told that we were at Barangay Suba (Majayjay, Laguna), our starting point.
We then boarded the raft and got briefed on how to properly sit and row our paddles. The river was pretty calm during our trip, we were told that the river was at it’s best rafting condition just yesterday because of the storm but it was still fun!
There are three activities all through this trip, the first one is the rafting part. We got to row for a few minutes before we reach our first rocky spot. It went on like that for a few times until the raft was needed to have some air.
Our guides insisted that we get off the raft and enjoy the river for a moment.
We got back the raft and reached the spot of our second activity, tubing. We met with some of the other guides who handed us the tubes that we’ll use for the activity. It was so much fun!!! We all wanted seconds!
The third activity was cliff jumping. The water is 16ft deep and we all tried it, even the kid we were with. It was my first time to try it and I was really scared! I don’t know how to swim so it’s really really scary for me.
Getting back on the raft, it was just few more rows until we arrived at our end point. At the last spot of the trip, there’s one more jump and one more tubing to do. Few of us tried jumping off. It was really high, almost two floors high.
The last tubing was as much fun as the first one. Photo ops!
The package we took comes with a meal after. We were pointed to a hut to stay and eat our meals at. The view was overlooking the rest of the riverside.
We rode the same jeepney back to the main office and took our showers there and fixed our things. It was just about to get dark when we were all ready to go. We decided to drop by the plaza and look at what they told us was the Little Hollywood of Laguna. We weren’t able to get that much photos of the plaza proper because it was too dark then though.
Overall, the trip was FUN and we got to try something new and met good people.
