SM City Calamba | Halloween 2015 Costume Contest
Saturday, October 31, 2015Hello there! We are having a cosplay post today. I was recently invited to judge a Halloween Costume Contest at SM City Calamba and I just want to share the experience here.
It’s my second time judging the event and TJ gave me another opportunity to be a judge at one of her events again. super thankful! ^^
I was supposed to be accompanied with some of the mall officials but TJ sent me a word to help her look for two more judges.
The event was a Halloween Costume Contest for kids and I invited two good friends, a very great HMUA, Nida Linn and a very well-known cosplayer at our community, Markee.
Markee and I both agreed to judge the contest in costume to be in style with the event, well then of course Nida Linn’s goth fashion is enough. (:
I was so happy I get to wear my Cindry-chan cosplay again. Cindry-chan is one of the zombie characters at the Thriller Bark Arch at the Anime One Piece. She was just an improv cosplay I made when I was still starting in cosplay and I properly made a dress for her this time.
The event was really really quick! TJ briefed us on how the contestants will come in and out of the stage and how the scoring will be. And then we were asked to be at our seats in front of the stage. The kids had a parade around the mall and we were just in time when the kids started coming in and filled up their seats.
There were three categories for this contest; Kings and Queens, Pirates and Fairies, Monsters. A lot of kids participated and everyone was dressed pretty well. Here are some of the kids on stage:
Judging this event was harder than the first one I’ve attended to. We were judging 5 kids on stage all at the same time. The kids came in per batch and were given at least a couple of minutes on stage to show off their costumes. There were costumes that really stood out and were really well made.
TJ held an impromptu contest while the admins were tallying the scores. And we enjoyed few dance numbers from the kids and some of their guardians.
And here we are, after just a couple of hours, the winners are announced.
The Kings and Queens Winners:
The Pirate and Fairies Winners:
The Monsters Winners:
And here are some more photos at the event proper from my phone:
It was a lovely afternoon well spent. The kids were all dressed up and so enthusiastic and the event went very well. Thanks for reading all the way through!
