DPP9 | Digital Photographers Philippines
Sunday, March 22, 2015DPP is a community of professional and amateurs photographers, and they hold an annual event that gathers and celebrates their love for photography. This year, they held it at BGC, a very spacious and a photographer friendly place. Check out their event page here: http://www.digitalphotographer.ph/dpp-9/. This is my first time attending this event and I say it was so much fun!
You don’t need to have your own SLR camera to be part of the community; I for one don’t have any at all! (digicam got broken last year).
So, I was able to learn this event from a friend and I asked my sister to come with me and sent out messages to other friends too.
We arrived quite late, like a few hours late. It’s still “early” per se, but we were late for the lines at the booths and their freebies. Lol
We lined up for registration and took our event IDs and some other lanyard freebies. After the registration they also gave us this raffle passport that we need to get stamps from all of the booths.
At the line for registration, there are photos on display and hey I just have to take snaps of ‘em. ♡
There were lots of booths and me and my sister were so excited to participate! The first line we took was the KLM on Assignment booth. It’s a contest for two and the winners are sent to the country of choice and document their travel experience; this year it’s at Rome.
We had a break around late lunch after a few stamps on our raffle passport; took a small snack and met-up with a friend. At that time we got aware that there are photoshoot demos apart with the event that’s happening on stage. There’s also free camera lens cleaning for all Nikon users at the same time.
Here we watched a drone demo. I did learned stuff with this one and I got more interested on having one for myself! It was soooo cool!
And here, I just have to post these. My long lost dearest buddies!!! Hooray!
Lots of different activities were going on simultaneously. Photoshoots at different areas around BGC; there was also a boxing ring and even ramps for bikers. What you could really notice at the event is that they are promoting action cameras but there are still your usual promotions of new models from some of the big brands.
It rained a bit in the afternoon, but everybody still enjoyed the day. Just before the sun sleeps on us, we all had one huge group picture! Here’s a shot from our spot below.
The guys at the balcony are the ones who took the epic group shot. They group everybody by the camera brand everyone uses. It was so much fun! For my favorite part of the event, the final panel discussion! I’m not familiar with the community but I believe they are well renowned and respected people in the field.
It’s not a serious panel, well serious in a way but very entertaining. I learned a lot and got to know the pros and cons of pursuing a career in photography. At the back, where we were gladly sitting was a mini bar that serves free drinks for everyone! Yeah~
Overall, I enjoyed the event and would definitely attend next year!
