KFest5 2015 @ SM Megamall

Sunday, July 20, 2014

So, it was my first time to attend KFest. I have been hearing it from friends but I'm not that of a die-hard KPop fan or like a super KPop enthusiast. I am used to going to conventions, anime or cosplay conventions that is. I was able to attend this year with my sisters. We were at SM Megamall around 11:00am, an hour past the time they open the ticket booth. And guess what, the hall is at the 4th floor and the end of the line stretched to the upper ground floor's staircase. haha.

It took us an hour at that line to buy our tickets and get in. The event occupied three halls. There are fewer booths inside unlike the usual conventions I attend to. There's I think at least 5 food booths and about 20 small booths that sells Korean goods. There's one reason I wanted to get in though. THESE:

The Face Shop booth where Kim Soo Hyun and Suzy are the endorsers have lines for a free make-up and nail art. I wanted to try but I had enough with the long line for the tickets. :P Having a photo with Kim Soo Hyun's standee was enough for me. ^_^

As for the few KPop artists I know, 2NE1 is the one I like most. I was able to attend their AON concert here last time but I wasn't able to bring home any merchandise. So sad the 2NE1 items I wanted to buy weren't available at the KFest booths too! I just bought few 2NE1 items to satisfy myself.

There was a guest KPop group that came, I don't know who they are but I think they are the ones at the poster. :P They had mini contests at the event. Cosplays, dance contests, eating contests and singing contests. The crowd was so new for me and this event gave me the proof the Music is indeed the International Language. There are individuals and small crowds who were dancing and singing instantly when they hear a song that they like. The crowd collectively screaming when they're idol's face appear or gets a close up at a music video being shown on stage. They scream at it even though they can see it on their phones or computers. It was a very energetic crowd.

It was also fun to watch people dancing on stage. Random crowd were allowed to dance on stage when a song they know is played on the background. These people don't know each other but it seems that they have been practicing all together for a long time.

Oh! I forgot, they also have these Cover Groups. They are like "cosplayers" but they do dance covers of KPop artists. I was really fond of this group, I think they are called She-nee ?? (not sure about the spelling). Ha! I know the group that they are covering, SHiNEE! I love those guys, you have to check their song Lucifer! *thumbsup* Anyway, these guys (She-nee) have fangirls too. It was so funny when girls were throwing handkerchiefs on stage and were asking the host to rub their hankys to those guys. XD But hey, they were good performers. ;)

The event lasted until 9PM. It was almost 12hrs of dancing, screaming, singing and going crazy! It was more of like a mini concert in a way, a music festival indeed. And this I will say, if you don't love KPop or at least know the culture, don't even bother going to KFests or you'll get bored. :P I myself who likes less then 5 KPop groups (2NE1, 2PM, ShiNEe, SiStar) got out of place at times.

At the last hour, me and my little sister took a last look at the booths to buy one more item to take home. And yey! We got these kawaii neko snapbacks! ^___^v

Now, I would be anticipating KFest6 next year too! :) Thank you for reading!
